Autumn’s Rainbow Youth Community Center is excited to share an important milestone in our journey: The Skillman Foundation has awarded funding to support our Rainbow RISE Youth Leadership Program! 💙
For our organization, this is more than a grant. It is an investment in the potential, ideas, voices, and leadership of Detroit youth.
Helping Young People RISE
At Autumn’s Rainbow, we believe young people deserve more than a seat at the table—they deserve opportunities to develop the confidence and skills to use their voices, influence their communities, and create change.
The Rainbow RISE Youth Leadership Program is designed to provide a supportive and empowering environment where young people can grow personally, socially, and as emerging leaders.
Through Rainbow RISE, youth will have opportunities to strengthen skills such as leadership, communication, self-advocacy, decision-making, teamwork, and community engagement. Just as importantly, the program will encourage young people to recognize that their experiences and perspectives matter.
We want our youth to understand that leadership does not begin when they become adults. They can lead right now.
Why Youth Leadership Matters
Young people are already identifying challenges in their schools, families, neighborhoods, and communities. When we give them the tools, mentorship, encouragement, and opportunities to participate in solutions, we help build stronger young people and stronger communities.
Rainbow RISE will create space for youth to discover their strengths, explore their interests, develop their voices, and learn how they can make a meaningful difference.
Our goal is not to tell young people who they should become. It is to help them discover who they already are—and give them the support they need to RISE.
An Investment in Detroit Youth
We are incredibly grateful to The Skillman Foundation for believing in this work and investing in opportunities for Detroit youth.
Support like this allows a growing community organization like Autumn’s Rainbow to turn ideas into meaningful experiences for young people. It strengthens our ability to create programs where youth feel welcomed, valued, heard, supported, and empowered.
This award is also an exciting step forward for Autumn’s Rainbow Youth Community Center as we continue building partnerships and expanding opportunities for the children, youth, and families we serve.
